    One of the most anticipated days for any parent is their child's nursery admission and it is a significant milestone because it marks the beginning of their formal education. The process of finding the best nursery school for your child, filling out the forms, keeping track of important admission dates, preparing for the interviews, and getting done with the admission is filled with excitement, anticipation, and sometimes, a touch of anxiety.     Q1. How Many Seats Are Available For Nursery Admissions In Delhi This Year?

    As per The New Indian Express, “Delhi NCR has nearly 1,700 private unaided schools with around 1.25 lac nursery seats”. On the other hand, the number of children waiting to get a nursery seat is comparatively higher. 

    Q2. Will The Points System Be Followed This Year?

    The Directorate of Education (DoE) of Delhi follows a point system for nursery school admissions, as per which the children are allotted points based on certain criteria like distance, siblings, alumni, firstborn, single child, girl child and so on, which vary from one school to another. Out of these, distance criteria carries the highest weightage in the majority of the schools, with highest points given to those living closer to the premises. 

    Q3. What's The Minimum Age For Admission Into The Nursery? Is There An Upper Age Limit ?

    As per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Directorate of Education (DoE) specified that the minimum age for nursery admission in Delhi is three years. Additionally, there is a maximum age limit of four years as of March 31, 2024. This means that a child is eligible for nursery admission 2025-26 if they are born between  01 April 2020 and 31 March 2021.

    Q4. What Are The Documents Required For Nursery School Admission 2025-26?

    The documents that you will need for your child’s nursery school admission include:

    • Aadhar Card

    • Passport-size photograph of the child

    • Passport-size photograph of the parents 

    • Family Photograph

    • Birth Certificate of the child

    • Medical Fitness Certificate

    Q5. When Will Nursery Forms Be Available? How Does It Work?

    The nursery forms will be made available by 23rd November 2024. You can keep a track of these on the nursery admissions section on parentune as well. Schools will get a clear period to apply these, and then a time to process the forms and meet the parents. Schools would then come out with the first shortlist, followed by a second list. 

    In a recent poll on Parentune.com, 95% of proparents felt that the nursery admissions process in Delhi NCR is unfair and lacks transparency.
