Recipe: Wheat Porridge (6 months - 12 months)

Wheat porridge is a nutrient-rich addition to your baby’s diet as it is packed with carbohydrates, fibre, iron, vitamin B and minerals. When introduced at the right stage of development, wheat can aid in your child’s development and growth. The recipe also has chikoo, which helps to relieve digestive problems, thanks to its high fibre content.

Ingredients:

3 tbsp whole wheat flour
-
1/4 chikoo
-
200 ml water
-
1/8 tsp ghee
Serving size: 1
Recommended Serving Size: 1/4 cup
Method:
Step 1: Wash and peel the chikoo: Rinse the chikoo under running water, then peel and mash it.
Step 2: In a pan, add ghee and mix 2 tablespoons of wheat cereal or wheat flour with 1 cup of water.
Step 3: Cook the mixture on medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and forms a smooth porridge.
Step 4: Add the mashed chikoo to the wheat porridge and mix well.
Step 5: Let the porridge cool down. If the porridge is too thick, you can thin it out with breast milk.
