Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who had tied the knot in a private family ceremony in April 2022,  welcomed their daughter Raha in November 2022. Since then, Ranbir has been a doting father and is seen showering his little princess with an abundance of affection and love

While talking about Raha in an interview with BBC, he shared, “Nothing matters anymore, and everything does, at the same time. I am scared to even talk about it because it fills you up so much.” It aptly describes the complex emotional journey many new dads go through while trying to bond with their children. “You have this fear: will this go away? But in the back of my mind, I know this is the one thing that will live with me eternally till the day I die. The amount of love, joy, and gratefulness that I feel, I haven’t felt that towards anything, any person, any movie, anything professionally.” he further added.

Here are some unique aspects of Ranbir Kapoor’s signature parenting style.

Devoted Dad

Even with a packed shooting schedule, Ranbir always finds time to spend with Raha. In 2023, he announced that he would be taking a 5 to 6 month break to spend quality time with his daughter. “She is crawling. She is recognizing. She is giving so much love, and she is trying to speak words like Pa and Ma. It’s a beautiful time to be around her and I am going to cherish this forever” He shared.

Positive Outlook

Ever since Raha was born, Ranbir Kapoor’s outlook on life has become more positive as he wants to be a part of his daughter’s tomorrow. In an interview with Nikhil Kamath, he shared, “I never feared death. I always thought that I would die at the age of 71 because I had this obsession with the number 8. I don’t know why I said that. But now I am like that’s too soon. That’s another 30 years. So, all that has changed because of Raha”. Ranbir, who had developed the habit of smoking when he was just 17, gave it up because of his daughter.

Creativity & Fun

Ranbir is as creative at parenting as he is at acting. Alia had once revealed that Ranbir is always on the lookout for creative ways to make their daughter smile. She’d said that Raha has a “lot of fun” with Ranbir. “Raha and Ranbir are always troubling each other, pulling each other’s legs, they have the funniest conversations, and they make each other laugh!” she said. In another interview, Ranbir shared, “With me, she (Raha) looks for the masti and fun and the laughter and flirting. We are flirting all the time.”

Prioritising Privacy

Ranbir gives utmost priority to his daughter’s privacy and safety. Initially after Raha was born, the new parents urged the media not to click pictures of their daughter, to keep Raha out of the public gaze for a while. They had requested privacy. It was only after she was a year old that the parents agreed on letting her get clicked, during Christmas 2023. “As parents, we will try to protect it (Raha’s privacy) as much as we can”.

Values & Principles

Ranbir once said in an interview that he wants a normal life for his daughter. Despite being a celebrity child, he wants her to stay grounded. “We just want for her to have a normal upbringing. To go to school, to not make her feel too special, or different around other children. She should just have a normal life,” he once said.

Chill & Calm

Ranbir is quite chill when it comes to parenting. In an interview with Kareena Kapoor Khan, he revealed that it is Alia who is always overstressed, while he is the calm one. Calling himself a chill dad, he told Kareena that parents can be overprotective at times but he feels that one has to be easy with it.
