Parents’ Day 2014
Every year I would hear about events like Fathers’ Day and Mothers’ Day catching pace in India, trying to stand at par with the international observations of these days. Last year, however, something unique caught my attention; it was Parents’ Day. Intrigues, I found out more about this event and landed on parentune.com: an online proparent community that aims to empower parents by working toward a positive shift in child development. On exploring a little further, I discovered that the 2-day carnival was a celebration of the warm and endearing bond parents and children share with one another--it was a mix of activities that made parenting more meaningful yet simpler. For someone to dedicate two days just to understand the essence of this bond seemed too special for me to resist attending it. And the experience was only better than what I had expected. Parents’ Day 2013 had an unprecedented participation from more than 3,000 parents-- attending workshops, learning from each other’s experiences, interacting with experts and discussing some key aspects to child development in the rapidly changing and evolving surroundings.
The good news is that parentune.com is now celebrating Parents Day again this year on 26-27th July at Select Citywalk, Saket, Delhi.
For any discerning parent, this is going to be a chance to experience first-hand the on-ground manifestation of the mission of parentune.com--parents helping fellow parents, receiving in time expert advice to achieve more for their child. This will be done through a gamut of activities and sessions on parenting and its challenges. The two-day exposition will include workshops that will shed light on Education and Learning, Nutrition and Food, Pregnancy and Infant Care as well as Behaviors and Attitudes, with prestigious experts, some of whom are listed below:
Steven Rudolph: An American educator whose path-breaking multiple natures theory helps you to understand and unleash the potential in your child’s personality.
Ishi Khosla: A renowned nutritionist, who through her experience of more than two decades in child nutrition, will aid you in tackling the challenges of feeding your children, something urban parents struggle with frequently.
Nitin Pandey: The founder of parentune.com will bring to the table his visionary ideas about driving child development and education in the right direction.
Dr Shelja Sen: A mental health professional, Dr Ssen brings forth her expertise in dealing with stress, relationships and parenting.
Smita Srivastava: If you have been sparing no effort in looking for creative ways to feed your children, yet to no avail, Smita is your saviour. She can add innovation to food in a way that your child will never fuss over healthy food.
Astha Mahajan: A counsellor, Astha will present effective ways on dealing with children and psychology issues.
Dr Rinku Sengupta Dhar: A respected gynaecologist and obstetrician, Dr Dhar believes in making pregnancy and child delivery a joyful experience rather than a stressful one. She will debunk myths around pregnancy.
Dr Neha Joshi: Dr Neha specializes in the paediatrics department and is known to balance pragmatism of bringing up children in this age with some old age wisdom. She will guide parents on how to best render care to an infant.
Through interaction with these experts, a parent will get a chance to absorb their insights and make parenting their parenting more substantial. And there is something for the little ones too!
Parentune will also take care of your children. Along with workshops, parentune.com will be hosting activities for children as well. Children of all age groups will have the opportunity to indulge in a mix of skill-building and developmental activities such as musical storytime, clay modelling, art & craft and free play. These activities will be supervised by trained professionals and balance play with constructive development. This year the event is being powered by Pigeon--a world renowned brand in the area of infant and child care. Pigeon is also supporting the pregnancy and infant care workshop, perhaps a must attend for each expecting parent or a parent of an infant or a toddler. Similarly, the nutrition workshop is being partenered with Philips Air Fryer. This new age appliance not only makes life easier for a busy mom but at the same time does not compromise on the healthy living either.
Parents’ Day, in it's second edition, shall empower a sustainable impact on parenting as well as fostering child’s development. As urban parents, it’s indeed hard to find sufficient time for a child, but events like these can really make a difference in how we nurture our child because after all, “At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents.”
