Sai, who will be celebrating her 17th birthday later this month got the best ever birthday gift, which she earned with her hard work and determination. The exam was taken by 12.58 lakh candidates.

Sai’s Mother Shares Her Happiness

In an interview with the Indian Express, her mother, Padmaja, who is a Nutritionist by profession, proudly shared her daughter’s academic journey. “She topped her ICSE (Class 10 exam) in school and also Class 11 (intermediate first-year) exam last year,” Padmaja said

Earlier, Sai made a significant shift in her academic path, switching from the National Board to Andhra State Board as she believed that the State Board Exams are comparatively easier than Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).

When her mother was asked about the reason behind this shift, she said, “There weren’t many good ISC schools in our area. Also, Bhashyam Junior College, where she presently studies, is considered the best here. Her teachers have played an important role in her JEE preparation as we are working parents and hardly get time.”

Why Did Sai Not Opt For Coaching?

In India, coaching is often seen as essential for preparing for any competitive exam, however Sai decided to take a different route to success. She did not enroll in any coaching centre and rather chose to prepare on her own. She shared that her friends and teachers helped her with her preparation and also that all 6 of her friends who had appeared in the exam had cracked it.

What Sai’s Daily Routine Looked Like

Sai revealed that she devoted 12 to 14 hours, every day, to her studies, which included preparation for her Board exam as well as JEE Mains.

“I devoted 12-14 hours daily to my studies including preparation of JEE Main. Constant revising helped me achieve confidence. Sunday was the only day when I used to relax – wake up late, watch motivational videos of IIT students who showed life in an IIT, discoveries, etc,” she said

When asked whether she uses social media, Sai shared that she used to have an Instagram account till Class 10 but then she deactivated her account as she wanted to solely focus on her studies. She believed that social media was a distraction. “It was initially difficult, but I decided if I wanted to get into a good college, then I have to make this temporary sacrifice,” she added.
