Know Why Anil Kapoor Was Scared To Be A Grandparent

We grew up watching his movies and now we are getting to see a completely new side of this Superstar, who is now grandfather to one of Bollywood's most loved babies. Veteran actor Anil Kapoor shares a special bond with his grandson, Vayu Kapoor Ahuja. In an interview, after Vayu’s birth, Mom Sonam Kapoor shared that Anil was scared to see himself as a grandfather, however, when he got the news of Sonam’s pregnancy, he could not hold back his emotions. 

When Anil Kapoor Became ‘Nanu’

Born in 1959, veteran actor Anil Kapoor grew up in a Chawl in Tilak Nagar with elder brother Boney Kapoor, sister Reena, and younger brother Sanjay. He rose to fame after his first lead role in the movie ‘Woh 7 Din.’ 

Anil got married to Sunita Bambhani in 1984 and they have 3 kids together - Rhea, Sonam, and Harshvardhan Kapoor. In August 2022, Sonam and hubby Anand Ahuja were blessed with their first child, Vayu Kapoor Ahuja, and this marked the beginning of a new chapter in Anil Kapoor’s life. 

Sharing his excitement in an interview, Anil quoted his famous dialogue from the movie ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ - ‘I feel on top of the world’. 

When Vayu was born, Anil shared the news with his fans and loved ones by sharing a heartfelt post, 'We are delighted to announce, on the 20th of August 2012, the 20th of August 2012, the arrival of the newest member of our family. Sonam and Anand have been blessed with a healthy baby day and we couldn't be more elated. Our hearts are bursting with pride and love for the new parents and their beautiful angel. Doting grandparents Harish & Priya, Anil & Sunita. Excited aunties and uncles Rhea & Karan, Anant & Harshvardhan”

Embracing A New Role 

On his wife Sunita’s birthday, Anil shared a special post in which he talked about stepping into the new roles as grandparents. The caption read, “Happy Birthday @kapoor.sunita! The love of my life, my only constant, and the beautiful mother of my incredible children…I am so lucky I get to spend every day with you and love you a little more with each passing day… This year, as we step into new roles as grandparents, I can’t wait to start this new chapter of our love story with you! Love you, Sunita.” This was when Sonam Kapoor was pregnant with Vayu.
