Shopping complexes, malls, the zoo, parks: Toddlers are easily distracted and overly curious. So, here are a few tips to ensure you don’t lose your child in a busy place.
1. Two is better than one: It’s always better to go to busy places in pairs of two. It’s easier to handle and manage your work as well.
2. Take turns: If both parents are out shopping, you should take turns. Both of you should not be engaged at the same time while the kid goes exploring.
3. Let the child walk ahead: Make sure your toddler always walks ahead of you, never behind you. This is the most common mistake that most parents make.
4. Carry a stroller/carrier: If possible, you should always carry a stroller tothese busy places. Your child can be tied safely and taken along.
5.Hold hands: You must ensure you’re holding their hands or lifting them up, while out in super crowded places especially. I have seen young children crying and yelling out for their parents in malls, parks and other such areas; it not only terrorises them but gives people enough opportunities for crimes like child lifting, exploitation, and kidnappings.
#ParentuneTip:In case you come across a small, lost child, please help them and do not simplywalk past and ignore them. You can approach the help desk for announcements and CCTV footage, or simply lift the child and call out for the parents.
