Rachael Kaur, an Indian-origin mom has made it to the headlines, and for all the good reasons. She has earned the title ‘Super Commuter’, thanks to her extraordinary daily commute routine. Continue reading to learn more.

Rachael, who works as an assistant manager in AirAsia's finance operations department, travels not 50, not even 100, but rather 300 km daily, on a flight just to spend more time with her children. This arrangement makes it possible for her to see her kids and be with them every day.

    In an interview with CNA Insider, Rachael shared, "I have two kids, both are growing. My oldest is 12 and my daughter is 11. With the growing, I feel that the need for their mother to be around more often,"

    Earlier, Rachael rented a house near her office and returned home once a week, but this affected her work-life balance. She was left with no other option but to fly to work daily. This has also helped her financially as the fare is much cheaper than the rent she used to pay. With the new setup, she saves almost $150 each month.

    What Rachael’s Day Looks Like

    Rachael’s day starts at 4:00 am every morning. She gets ready for work and leaves for the airport at 5:00 am. She boards her flight around 5:55 am and reaches her office around 7:45 am. Her office is just 5 to 7 minutes away from the airport. In the evening, she is back home by 8:00 pm. During her commute, Rachael spends the first couple of minutes reflecting on her life. She also listens to music and admires nature. 

    "When I'm at work, I focus entirely on my job, and when I'm home, I dedicate myself fully to my family," she shared

    Why Rachael Did Not Go For Remote Work

    Rachael believes that she feels this arrangement is better than working remotely. In an interview with the outlet, she stated, "Being surrounded by people makes it easier to complete tasks when you're able to communicate face-to-face."

    She also praised her employer, AirAsia for supporting this unusual arrangement which has made it possible for her to maintain a work-life balance. She plans to continue this unusual commute.
