A Father’s Battle For Justice Continues Months After 5-Year-Old Daughter Allegedly Sexually Assaulted

A 5-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted by a senior foreign exchange student in August last year. Even though the parents of the little girl filed an FIR no action has been taken yet which is believed to be owing to the boy’s diplomatic background. The class 12 student is the son of a Kenyan diplomat. He allegedly assaulted the class 1 student on the school bus around 6 months ago. 

In an interview with ThePrint, a senior police officer has revealed that the boy has diplomatic immunity and the matter is being handled by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)

Diplomatic immunity is a type of special protection offered to foreign diplomats and their family members which makes them immune to arrest and prosecution in the country where they have been posted. This means that no police action can be taken against them even if they break the law. This is done to ensure that the diplomats can work without the fear of being treated unfairly. In serious cases, the immunity can be waived by their home country.

The little girl’s father has told The Print that the girl wasn’t abused just once, but twice and they got to know about it when their daughter complained of frequent urination. They took her to a doctor where it was revealed that the girl was sexually assaulted. 

The parents have alleged that when they informed the school about the incident, they enquired about all the students except the accused.
