Recipe: Dalia Khichdi (6 months - 12 months)

Simple, nutritious and easy to digest, dalia khichdi is a great transition food option for babies at 6 months. The soft and mushy consistency makes it easier for the baby to swallow and digest. The proteins, fibers, vitamins and minerals found in it support your child’s overall well-being. Dalia khichdi is easy to digest and you can even play with the flavours by putting in different ingredients like jaggery or cinnamon. You can adjust the water content to get the desired consistency. For more textures and colours, you can try adding other veggies

Ingredients:

Dalia 100 g.

Masur dal 30 g.

Moongdal 20 g.

Potato 50 g.

Pumpkin 50 g.

Amaranth (tender) 50 g.

Onion 10 g.
-
Oil 10 ml.

Salt & Haldi to taste

Water sufficient to cook
Servings: 1-2
Recommended Serving Size: 1/2 cup (100-150g) per serving

Method:
Step 1: Wash and peel the vegetables and chop into small pieces
Step 2: Wash dalia and dal.
Step 3: Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onion and vegetables.
Step 4: Fry for some time.
Step 5: Add dalia and dal, mix thoroughly.
Step 6: Add salt, haldi powder and warm water and cook till dalia and vegetables become soft.
