What Is Good Parenting?
You cant baby-proof all the things: Toddlers, especially the 1 to 3-year-olds are fast-paced and enjoy their newfound freedom of walking. Even though we baby-proof a few things, some particular corners in the house and places can't be kept out of their reach; mainly the kitchen! In such situations, the only thing we can do is, make them understand the risks associated with it. From my personal experience, this particular method is working to some extent. Whenever my little one is on a quest moving towards a dangerous thing, I say "NO" in a strong accent rather than a loud tone with a straight face.
After trying a couple of times now he immediately backs off. He is slowly understanding that his mama is not liking something and shifts his attention to other safe things. Still, working on it and am glad he realizes the 'danger' aspect. Appreciating your toddlers: Toddlers like to experiment more. You need to observe them. Sometimes by chance, they learn or do a new thing. You must notice and instantly appreciate it. Clap when he learns the new ones.
Simple words like " very good" and "wah-wah" work in your favour. This immediately boosts their confidence and motivates them to go on the right track and they will focus more on getting it done better. Shower you child with hugs and kisses: Kissing and cuddling your baby makes them emotionally strong and also builds a great bond with their loved ones.
