How many hours should a 6 year old sleep

Sleep is an integral part of a child's growth and development. Studies suggest that kids who regularly get an adequate amount of sleep perform better in daily activities. They have better behaviour, improved attention, learning, memory, and better mental and physical health. Not getting enough sleep can lead to a lot of physical as well as mental issues.
A 6 year old child has a busy day. With school, friends, sports, homework, the child has a lot on the plate and so needs rest by the end of the day. Sleep allows the body to rest for the next day.
The body and your brain need sleep. Most kids between 5 and 12 get about 9 hours a night, but experts. However, sleep is an individual thing and some kids need more than others. It is also important that the quality of the sleep is good.
If the body does not get sufficient hours to rest, one can feel tired, cranky and may have a hard time focusing.
Sleep is also very important for growth and can improve immunity which keeps you from falling sick.
To sleep better, you may follow a few things like going to bed at the same time everyday, following a bedtime routine, not watching TV at bedtime, use the bed only for sleeping etc.
