Delayed gratification is the process when your child learns to resist the temptation of an immediate reward in preference for a later reward. Delayed Gratification can make children learn skills like patience, impulse control, self-control and willpower. Parents, teachers and friends and family members can play a key role in teaching self-control to children. It is important to teach our children to tame their impulses to help them become competent, successful humans. Learning to control impulses means being able to pause and figure out whether a purchase is really worthwhile. It means teaching children how to take care of themselves. It teaches children an important life skill and that is knowing how to handle money.
