Get Innovative With Your Sweets This Dussehra

Sweets or Mithai in Hindi are a vital part of any festival or occasion in our country. Without them, celebrations are never considered complete. We Indians love our traditional sweets right from rasgullas to halwas to barfis to ladoos  - we just love them!

Have you started drooling yet? Well, this is just the beginning because this year we suggest you to give a slight tweak to the traditional dessert ideas and try something new and innovative. Something like Oats and peanut ladoo, Papaya Barfi, Boondi and rabdi stuffed pancakes, kiwi kalakand. So by the end of this blog you will have 4 new recipes tried out from the traditional ones but slightly tastier and definitely more visually appealing and tempting.

    Quick And Easy Recipe Of Oats and Peanuts Ladoo

    Ingredients For Oats And Peanuts Ladoo

    1. 1 cup Oats
    2. 1 cup Roasted Peanuts
    3. 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds
    4. cup Grated Jaggery
    5. 1 tsp Green Cardamom Powder
    6. 1 tbsp

    Method For Preparing Oats And Peanuts Ladoo

    1. Dry roast sesame seeds in a pan until crispy stirring continuously, once done transfer in a bowl
    2. In a same pan dry roast oats, stirring continuously until brown
    3. Coarsely crush peanuts in a grinder
    4. Add jaggery in a bowl along with roasted oats
    5. In a same bowl add crushed peanuts, cardamom powder and ghee
    6. Mix them very well
    7. Once mix well divide them into equal portion and shape them in ladoos
    8. You can store them for a week in an air tight container

    Delicious Recipe Of Papaya Barfi

    Ingredients for Papaya Barfi

    1. 1 medium Papaya peeled, halved and seeded
    2. 1 tablespoon Khoya
    3. 2 tablespoons Almonds finely chopped
    4. 1 tablespoon Pistachios finely chopped
    5. cup sugar
    6. a pinch of Green cardamom powder
    7. Khoya/mawa grated 1 cup

    Method For Preparing Papaya Barfi

    1. Great papaya and place in a bowl
    2. Heat ghee in a pan
    3. Add almonds and pistachios and sauté for 1- 2 minutes roast them a little
    4. Add papaya and sauté on high heat for 5-6 minutes
    5. Add sugar, green cardamom powder and mix well till sugar dissolves
    6. Cook for 8-10 minutes or till syrup reaches 1 string consistency
    7. Add khoya and cook for 1-2 minutes
    8. Switch off the heat and keep stirring for 8-10 minutes till the mixture cools
    9. Line an aluminum tray with a cling film
    10. Pour the mixture into the tray and allow it to set at room temperature for 1 hour
    11. Then in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours
    12. Cut into squares, transfer into a serving plate you can store them for a week

    Innovative Recipe Of Kiwi Kalakand

    Ingredients for Kiwi Kalakand

    1. 4 Kiwi
    2. 1 liter Milk
    3. A pinch of Alum
    4. 1 1/2 cups of crumbled cottage cheese (paneer)
    5. 1 cup powdered sugar
    6. Few pistachios blanched and slivered for garnishing

    Method For Preparing Kiwi Kalakand

    1. Heat milk in a non-stick pan till it comes to a boil
    2. Simmer till the milk thickens and reduces to slightly less than half (approximately 400 ml)
    3. Peel and roughly chop the kiwis and grind into a puree
    4. Add alum to the milk and mix well
    5. Add cottage cheese and mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes
    6. Add kiwi puree and mix
    7. Add sugar, mix well and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring continuously, till the mixture thickens
    8. Cover an aluminum tray with an aluminum foil and cling film
    9. First spread pistachios and then pour the mixture over them
    10. Cool down to room temperature and set in the refrigerator overnight
    11. Cut in square pieces and serve

    Easy To Make Boondi And Rabdi Stuffed Pancakes

    Ingredients Of Boondi And Rabdi Stuffed Pancakes Recipe

    1. 6 medium boondi ladoos
    2. 3-4 tbsps ready to serve Rabdi
    3. 1 1/2 cups Refined flour (maida)
    4. 1 tsp Baking powder
    5. 1 tsp Soda bicarbonate
    6. 3/4 cup Buttermilk
    7. 2 tbsps Powdered sugar
    8. 1 tbsp Raisins

    Method For Preparing Boondi And Rabdi Stuffed Pancakes

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C/350 F
    2. Sift refined flour, baking powder and soda bicarbonate into a bowl
    3. Add buttermilk and whisk to make a smooth batter
    4. Add powdered sugar and mix
    5. Heat a non-stick pan
    6. Pour a ladleful of batter and spread it around
    7. Cook till the underside is lightly browned
    8. Flip and cook till the other side is cooked similarly
    9. Transfer onto a plate and set aside
    10. Cook other pancakes in the same way
    11. Take boondi ladoos in a bowl and break them
    12. Add rices and three to four tablespoons of rabdi and mix
    13. Take a spring-form cake tin (loose-bottomed tin)
    14. Trim the pancakes to fit into the tin. Keep one pancake at the base of the tin
    15. Spread some of the boondi stuffing over it
    16. Cover with another pancake and spread some more of the stuffing
    17. Keep another pancake and spread some more of the stuffing
    18. Keep the tin in the preheated oven and bake for ten minutes
    19. Remove from the oven and unmold
    20. Cut into wedges and serve with rabdi

    Quick And Simple Recipe of Basundi Pannacotta

    Ingredients of Basundi Pannacotta

    1. 2 1/2 cups milk
    2. Condensed milk
    3. 1 tablespoon chopped pistachios
    4. 1/4 teaspoon green cardamom powder
    5. 1/4 cup almond powder
    6. 1/2 cup 200 grams milkmaid
    7. 2 teaspoons sugar
    8. 2 tablespoons gelatin
    9. 1 Kiwi
    10. 3-4 red grapes
    11. Fresh mint leaves as required
    12. Castor sugar as required

    Method For Preparing Basundi Pannacotta

    1. Heat milk in a deep non-stick pan and bring to a boil
    2. Add saffron and pistachios and stir to mix, boil further
    3. Add cardamom and almond powder and mix well
    4. Boil for an hour or till the milk is reduced
    5. Add Milkmaid and mix well
    6. Add sugar and mix well
    7. Boil further till the milk gets reduced
    8. Bring 4 tbsps water to a boil in another non-stick pan
    9. Add gelatin and let it bloom
    10. Add this to the reducing milk and mix well
    11. Cook for a minute
    12. Pour the reduced milk mixture into 4 individual shot glasses filling and refrigerate for 2 hours or till set
    13. Peel kiwi
    14. Deseed red grapes and finely chop
    15. Finely chop kiwi
    16. Mix both fruits and place portions into the shot glasses
    17. Dip a fresh mint leaf in castor sugar and place on the fruits in each glass
    18. Serve
