Lifeskills

No matter which global cuisines I try or whichever fantastic world-class restaurant I eat at, but like any other child, even I have grown up on food from my mom's kitchen and her 'haath ka khana' will always be the most delicious food in the world for me.

The most inspirational woman in my life is undoubtedly my mother. In life, I have learned everything from her. From cooking to even time management, multi-tasking, my values, being grateful to God, she has taught me everything. But the most amazing thing that I learned from her was to do everything wholeheartedly.

Incoming in the kitchen, she always said that if you cook with love, the dish will always taste better. I still remember the time when I used to return from school and all my friends used to run to play, I used to wait to go home and watch my mom cook.

What Celebrity Mom Pallavi Brar Talk About Being Mom & Wife

My love for cooking started by watching and helping her cook every day and that's when I decided to become a chef. My comfort food is Rajma Chawal and Khichdi that my mom makes. For me, nothing beats these delicious dishes.

From holding my hand to take tiny steps into kindergarten to taking those leaps across borders, she completely inspired me to become what I always wanted to be. When I was growing up, everyone aspired to see me become a doctor or an engineer, but that was not my dream at all.

Being a chef was not a very traditional career choice at the time and in spite of family opposition, my mom stood by me and supported me in making my dreams come true.

She taught me how to make some traditional dishes and always encouraged me to add my creativity to it. She always took interest in my education and even my work and added her valuable inputs wherever possible. I thank her every single day for making me who I am and for being the amazing woman that she is.

The other woman I truly look up to is my wife. A Chef herself, she has always inspired me to grow in my craft and get the best out of me. She is vibrant and positive and shares that positivity everywhere. She is not only my better half but is also the mother to our beautiful little baby boy. She manages a career, the home, helps me, and somehow does it all so gracefully! I couldn't have been where I am if it wasn't for her support.

A woman managing numerous things at a time

She is the one who I can count on in any kind of situation. I can't thank her enough for the tiniest things she has been doing for me. Handling everything alone while I am traveling to being a part of all the randomness I love doing she completes me and my happiness. Her biggest superpower is how she balances work and family. She has been extremely strong during bad times and has always stepped out of her comfort zone to achieve something. She is selfless in all her roles as a daughter, wife, mother, daughter in law, and as a chef. The one thing that I am really proud of is her ability to handle everything and remain strong throughout.

On this International Woman's Day, I would like to thank both of them for being such beautiful personalities and great inspirations in my life. I love them endlessly and treasure my relationships with them above everything else.

    As told to Swati!
