Chyawanprash is consumed by every age group, especially in winter, though it is advised to not give Chyawanprash to kids below the age of 3 years.  I remember as a child how I used to love the taste of this sweet-sour tangy Chyawanprash and so is my daughter, she is completely in love with my recipe for home-made Chyawanprash and in winter, I ensure that she take one spoon of this immunity booster jam before she leaves for school, which can keep her away from all winter ailments of cold and flu during this season.

    Ingredients: 

    Here are the main ingredients which you need to prepare homemade chyawanprash. Check this

    Sugar or jaggery powder750 gm
    Clarified butter (or) ghee250 gm
    Sesame oil65 ml

     

    So, first, make the powder of these above-given ingredients.

    How is Homemade Chyawanprash Prepared?

    1. Make the powder of all the above-mentioned ingredients, mix them properly and keep it inside a bowl.
    2. Take the Amla to wash them properly and pat them dry using a clean cotton cloth.
    3. Once amla is dry, take a fork and prick the amla from all the side,( this is done so that amla gets cooked properly).
    4. Put these Amla in a pressure cooker with water and cook it for two whistles.
    5. Once it cools, de-seed the Amla and mash the amla properly, so that there is no lump.
    6. Take the pan, once the pan is heated add the ghee, sesame oil, and the powder jaggery or (sugar).
    7. Now add the mashed Amla and cook it on low flame till you see the moisture of mixer evaporates.
    8. Add all the mixed powdered ingredients (step1) to this.
    9. Switch off the flame and mix this powder with the amla paste and add honey to this mixture. 
    10. Mix the honey thoroughly.
    11. Once this mixture is cool, transfer this into a clean glass jar.
